Yen Tu selected as one of Vietnam’s most attractive spiritual destinations

Vietnam Record Association has announced the top 10 destinations for spiritual tourism which attract the largest number of tourist arrivals to Vietnam, including Yen Tu Mountain.

These destinations were selected during the itinerary of seeking and promoting the country’s fascinating hotspots by travel companies, Vietnam Record Association and domestic and foreign tourists. Read more: travel Vietnam

Yen Tu mountain is located about 50km from Ha Long city. The pilgrimage route, winding from the foot of the mountain to its highest peak, is almost 30km. Dong Pagoda, which sits atop the mountain peak, is more than a kilometre above sea level.

The area’s beautiful natural landscape and awe-inspiring scenery, along with surrounding ancient pagodas and hermitages, are said to have been the reason that King Tran Nhan Tong passed the throne to his son, so that he could devote his life living as a Buddhist monk at Yen Tu Mountain. Whilst there, he founded the Truc Lam Zen Buddhist sect, which has led to Yen Tu being recognized as the country’s leading center for Buddhism. Read more: Halong bay cruise

Also on the list are One-pillar pagoda, Huong pagoda (Hanoi), Bai Dinh pagoda (Ninh Binh), Thien Mu pagoda (Thua Thien – Hue), Da Lat Thien Vien Truc Lam (Lam Dong), Statue of Jesus Christ in Vung Tau, Ba Den mountain, Cao Dai church (Tay Ninh) and Ba Chua Xu temple (Chau Doc – An Giang)
