Ben Thanh Market is located on the Ben Nghe River, which was started from 1912 until the end of March, 1914 and has been continuously operated since then.  The market has a total area of 13,056m² with average daily visit about 10,000 visitors. The market has 1,437 stalls, 6,000 small businesses, 11 enterprises, with four main doors and 12 sub-outlets in four directions.

The South Gate (overlooking Quach Thi Trang Square) with the symbol of the three-sided clock tower, is the main gate, inside the cage house is a place to sell clothes and dried food.
