Two communes of Minh Chau and Quan Lan linked to the national electricity grid

The Electricity Company of Quang Ninh on December 15 successfully connected Van Don’s Quan Lan commune and Minh Chau commune to the national electricity grid.

This is part of the project to link 5 island communes of Quan Lan, Minh Chau, Ban Sen, Ngoc Vung, and Thang Loi in Van Don district to the national grid which has been officially launched on April 19, 2014.

With a total investment capital of VND 312 billion, including VND100 billion from Quang Ninh Province, VND100 billion from Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and VND112 billion from the Northern Power Corporation, the project includes 67 km. of medium voltage line of 22kV, 34 km of 0.4kV low voltage line and 21 transformer stations.

Minh Chau and Quan Lan are the second and third communes connecting the national power grid. Earlier, people living in Ban Sen commune happily welcomed the electric power resources to their hometown on December 2.

The other two communes are expected to use electricity from the national grid by the end of December, 2014.

This project is of great importance for the economic development of Van Don in general, and the 5 communes in particular, especially in regard to tourism, seafood exploitation and processing and national defence.
